Professional Profile

Todd Davis is the Grain Marketing and Risk Management Extension Specialist for the University of Kentucky. Todd was raised on a corn, soybean, and farrow-to-finish hog farm in Iowa and is a partner in the family farm with his older brothers. Todd has a B.S. degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. Dr. Davis has served as an Extension Specialist in Marketing and Risk Management at Clemson University from 2001 to 2011. Todd served as a Senior Economist for the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington D.C. from 2011 to 2014 specializing in grain markets, crop insurance, and farm program policy analysis. Todd has continued this work at the University of Kentucky since 2014.

Dr. Davis publishes a monthly newsletter the Crops Marketing and Management Update that reaches over 3,000 farmers, Extension Agents, agricultural lenders, crop insurance specialists, and grain market analysts in Kentucky, the Southern region, and in South America.

Todd developed a course titled International Agribusiness in Argentina which is led with Dr. Tyler Mark. This class meets in the Spring Semester weekly and culminates with a two-week intensive tour of Argentine farms, agribusiness, policy organizations, and grain exporting firms. Dr. Davis has offered this course three times while at Clemson University and four times at the University of Kentucky.
