Interviews with Local Agribusinesses
The club hosts regular meetings, typically at a local agribusiness, and hears from agribusiness owners and managers about their business, industry, and asks questions.
In-State Trip
Each fall, club members have the opportunity to participate in an in-state trip to visit and tour several Kentucky agribusinesses
Out-of-State Trip
Over spring break, members take a 4-5 day trip to experience agribusiness outside of Kentucky. Recent trips have included Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.
Previous Trips.
The club took their out-of-state trip to Texas in 2022 with stops at Urban Reap to learn about aquaponics systems and World Hunger Relief in Waco with a lunch stop at Magnolia Market. They also toured the studio and production stage at RFD TV and the Stockyards in Fort Worth and had a blast at the Fort Worth Rodeo on their last night before heading home.
The Agribusiness Club took their typical fall trip around the state with stops at Gallrein Farms, Jim Beam Distillery, and TC Highlands Farm. Each stop was focused around Agri-tourism and the storytelling of their transitions to one-stop tourist destinations. Students had hands-on experiences at each stop with opportunities to brush Highland Cattle, smell different nodes of Bourbon, and even feed several petting zoo animals. The students were able to see behind the scenes of some of Kentucky’s Agri-tourism destinations and further understand the importance of tourism in the industry.
